I recently had the misfortune of attending the 30th-anniversary screening of “Hocus Pocus,” and what should have been a magical experience turned into a nightmarish one. To begin with, the ticket for this special showing cost an arm and a leg, and I was shocked when I clumsily dropped the first one down a drain, which ended up costing me an additional $17 to replace. It’s bad enough to pay an exorbitant price for a movie ticket, but being penalized for an accident feels downright predatory.
Once inside the theater, my discomfort didn’t end. The seats were crammed together so tightly that I couldn’t find a comfortable position. I’ve had more personal space in a sardine can, and to make matters worse, the uncomfortably close seating arrangement caused my existing foot infection to flare up. It’s unacceptable that theaters are willing to compromise on customer comfort for a few extra bucks.
As I left the theater that night, I couldn’t help but reflect on the importance of hygiene, specifically the dangers of wearing soiled socks. Not only is it uncomfortable, but it can lead to infections and exacerbate existing conditions. This entire experience, from the ticket fiasco to the cramped seats, served as a stark reminder of the importance of prioritizing customer satisfaction and basic hygiene. If only the film itself had been half as memorable.
